Google Allocates 25 Million Euros to Promote AI Skill Development in This Area
Google has pledged 25 million euros ($26.98 million) to help Europeans learn how to use artificial intelligence.
The tech giant, which announced the funding on Monday, said it has opened applications to social enterprises and nonprofits that can help reach those most likely to benefit from the training.
The company also runs a series of “growth academies” to support companies using AI to scale their businesses, and has expanded its free AI training courses to 18 languages.
“Research shows that the benefits of AI can exacerbate existing inequalities — especially in terms of economic security and employment,” said Adrian Brown, director of the Center for Public Impact, which manages the nonprofit system alongside Google.
“This new program will help people across Europe develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in AI and ensure that no one is left behind.”
Last month, Google announced it would invest $1 billion to build a data center outside London to meet growing demand for internet services in the region.
The data center, located on a 33-hectare (13-acre) site to be purchased by Google in 2020, will be located in the town of Waltham Cross, approximately 15 miles (24.14 km) north of central London. A data center owned by Alphabet is opened. New tab Company said in a statement.
